About David Freeman

David Freeman

David Freeman, a native of San Francisco, attended U.C. Berkeley before going into the Peace Corp in India where he was drawn to play their classical instruments, sitar and tabla. Having lived in India and Nepal for five years he became fluent in the languages and Indian Classical music, attended Banaras Hindu University and went on to spend a year on a concert tour of France, entertaining audiences from Kathmandu to Paris. After a successful tour David returned to reintegrate into Californian life.

In 1977 David turned his focus to photography when he received a birthday gift of a 35mm camera. The natural world became his creative canvas as his travels took him from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe and throughout the West with a new lens on life. Becoming a self-taught professional photographer with an eye for beauty and the ability to capture its timeless quality on film, David achieved growing recognition in the art of truly fine photography.

Since then he has been delighting people with his classic compositions and dramatically lit images. His exceptional award winning photographs have been included in many public and private collections around the world as well as being featured in a number of national and regional publications and shown in numerous galleries on the West Coast. His eclectic style is continuously evolving, each image lingering in our memories long after viewing.

For the past 36 years David and his wife Sharon have developed their dreams into reality. Growing their galleries and businesses along with their three children in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada's they have treasured each experience and enjoy seeing their children now pursue their own creative visions.

Today David exhibits at Art Obsessions, a fine art gallery in David's hometown of Truckee, California, where a selection of David's gallery wrapped giclées on canvas can be purchased. “Visual Pleasures”, David's line of handmade photographic note cards, made right here in California, are widely available at Whole Foods Markets and fine bookstores throughout Northern California and Nevada. David's “Ski Tahoe” and “Lake Tahoe” posters are available throughout the Truckee and Tahoe areas.

Please call or email David with any questions you may have. We look forward to providing you with great customer service and beautiful art you and your family will always appreciate.
